Lydia developed an interest in Sports Nutrition and gained her Sports Dietitians Accreditation
ASMF/DAA and enjoyed working with a large team of sports dietitians in Brisbane
Moving to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy the beach lifestyle Lydia worked as project dietitian for the Sunshine Coast Division of General Practice. This position saw her working closely with GP's providing nutrition seminars and seeing individual patients for expert one to one consultations.
The tropical environs of the far north called and Lydia moved to Cairns to take up the position of senior Dietitian at Cairns Base Hospital. Whilst in the region Lydia was employed at the Tropical Public Health Unit which provided an opportunity to look at health and nutrition assessment and future planning for the far north.
Lydia then returned to the Sunshine Coast and joined Sunshine Coast Dietetics bringing with her a broad range of experiences
Whilst Lydia is experienced in all areas of clinical nutrition she has developed a special interest in renal nutrition and kidney disease and works closely with medical specialists on the Coast seeing patients for individual consultations and also looking after the renal dialysis units at our private hospitals.
Allergy and food intolerances are another area of interest and Lydia has worked helping clients solve the mysteries of food allergies for many years. She has worked extensively as part of the Lap banding team on the Coast for many years and is skilled at assisting clients manage their band and achieve their goals.
Lydia is passionate about great quality food and healthy lifestyle and has an ability to motivate her clients to develop these passions as well.
Dana Craven
Dana Craven is the most recent Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) to join the team at the Sunshine Coast Dietetics. She maintains this qualification by taking part in the annual Dietitian’s Association of Australian (DAA) professional development program.
Prior to completing her four year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Dana worked as an education consultant and trainer for over ten years in the information technology industry. She is a qualified Workplace Trainer and Assessor and enjoys group programs and presentations. Dana has a strong interest in disease prevention and health promotion. During 2009 she developed and facilitated the nutritional component of the Shape Up program at the Eden Rehabilitation Centre. This group program uses a holistic healthcare approach aimed at helping participants make lifestyle modifications that reduce their health risks.
Dana is passionate about good food and nutrition and studied cooking at the French cooking academy, Le Cordon Bleu. She is the ideal APD to discuss all your queries about improving your daily diet and helping you to develop a healthy eating plan to promote a longer, healthier life. Beyond healthy eating, Dana believes in staying physically fit. She is a keen runner and a volunteer Surf Life Saver. Married with two young sons, Dana is well aware of the challenges faced by busy working mothers who are trying to keep their family healthy.
Dana offers up-to-date medical nutrition therapy so you can better manage a wide range of concerns including weight issues, heart risk factors - including high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She also works in the area of aged care and can offer advice and support for those looking after aged relatives. She has a practical and positive approach to managing nutrition related disorders and can help you set realistic health goals.
